Al Salaamu 3laykum everyone,
This is just a notice to let everyone know that all Islamic Network repositories will be archived on GitHub at some point in March, 2025 and will no longer receive updates.
We will still keep the code Open Source'd, but it will not be available on GitHub and may require you to identify yourself before accessing the coding (barring some of the libraries).
A Summary of the reasons why we are doing this:
- With the surge in the AI fad and vibe coding, we are seeing a lot of people trying to work with the repositories and sometimes reporting false issues or asking help to debug code written by Co-Pilot and ChatGPT. This is a waste of time and energy and it's much better spent elsewhere (for both us and the people using AI).
- GitHub (by being owned by Microsoft) continues to operate and expand in Israel (they started with the Azure Data Center in Israel after October 7, 2023) and is now profiting from any Open Source code by making it available as part of CoPilot. We don't wish to have any involvement with a company that does business with and pays taxes to genocidal governments.
This post will be updated once there is more information around where and how the repositories may be accessed.
