Strange character

When I query tajweed for ayah 1:6, I got that response :

And then these characters appear in my application (on Android):

This character does not appear in my mushaf or in the online Quran (eg: https://quran.com/en/1).

Is this an error in the text, or just a lack of knowledge on my side?

Impega 3laykum salaam! I can see this is related to https://github.com/islamic-network/api.alquran.cloud/issues/90, so I will close that issue and respond here.

First, we don't run the Global Qur'an API - for that you will have to specifically reach out to the Global Qur'an team.

Second, you are comparing a tajweed edition to the standard Uthmanic text - it's not a like for like comparison. For that, use a different edition. You can use https://alquran.cloud/arabic-font-edition-tester?reference=1%3A6 to work things out.

The tajweed edition adds characters to make recitation easier but requires understanding of tajweed specific characters. So that Hamza with a madda (as far as I am aware) means that alif needs to be elongated during recitation. I am by no means an expert, but see https://alquran.cloud/tajweed-guide as a reference.
