I think it's important to keep your emotions out of the subject line - that will make it easier for others to find the same problem if they find something similar to it.
Now, for starters, there is no edition called 'ar', so you have not read the API documentation correctly. As you will see in the response to the API, the edition that comes back if you specify an incorrect one, by default, is quran-simple
. This renders simple Arabic text.
You should be using quran-uthmani`` or
quran-unicodeor
quran-uthmani-quran-academy``` with the appropriate font if you want to get the display as close to the Madina Mus-haf as possible. See https://alquran.cloud/arabic-font-edition-tester to get some help.
It's also important to understand that in Classical Arabic the alif and the yaa can also be written otherwise, and in fact, may appear differently in Qur'an copies written in Turkey, the sub-continent, North Africa and different parts of the Islamic world.
