Assalamu alaikum,
I am developing a free iPhone app that helps people read one page of the Quran each day in the Madinah mushaf, with a short word-learning step and tafsir. It has no ads, no in-app purchases and no accounts.
Wird plays ayah-by-ayah recitation from cdn.islamic.network (128 and 64 kbps) by three reciters:
• Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary, murattal (ar.husary), the default
• Mishari Rashid al-Afasy (ar.alafasy)
• Muhammad Siddiq al-Minshawi, murattal (ar.minshawi)
It highlights each word as it is recited, using timing data from QUL (Tarteel), and lets readers save audio on their device for offline listening. The app credits each reciter and Islamic Network by name.
Could you confirm that this use is permitted for these three editions, including saving the audio on the device for offline listening? If permission for any of them should come from the reciter’s estate or another rights holder, I would be grateful for their contact details.
I am happy to add any attribution or wording you prefer.
JazakAllahu khayran,
Hossam Abdelrahman
