I'm building a free Quran app that pulls verse text and translations through the AlQuran Cloud API. Right now it uses two English translations: Saheeh International and Ahmed Raza Khan (Kanzul Iman).
Before I publish, I want to make sure I'm on solid ground with the translation licensing. So I want some clarity on the following:
- Does Al Quran Cloud have any existing permission or distribution agreement in place with the rights-holders for the Saheeh International and Ahmed Raza Khan editions that would cover an app like mine using them through the API?
- If not, do you know who the correct rights-holder/publisher contact is for each of these two translations, so I can request permission directly?
- Is there a recommended attribution format you'd like apps using the API to follow for these translations specifically?
Happy to share more about the app if useful. Thanks for any pointers — I'd rather get this right before moving forward.
