I've noticed something that I can't figure out when checking prayer times with the AlAdhan API. A few days ago I checked the prayer schedule before leaving home, and later I was in another area that was several kilometers away. I expected at least a small difference in the prayer times because my location had changed, but the results were exactly the same. I refreshed the page more than once and even waited for a while, but nothing changed.
Since I thought it might be my phone, I checked whether location services were turned on and they were. Other apps that use my location were updating normally, so it didn't seem like my phone was stuck using an old position. That made me wonder if the prayer times were being calculated from something other than my current location, or if there was some delay before a new position was actually used.
To double-check where I was, I also used an online compass. An online compass is a browser tool that uses a device's GPS location together with its built-in sensors to show your current direction without needing to install a separate app. It can be useful when you want to find directions with a compass, especially while traveling or when you're outdoors, because it updates according to the device's GPS location and orientation.
What confused me even more was that on another day I moved a similar distance and the prayer times were slightly different almost right away, so I know it doesn't always behave the same way. I also tried checking from another device while standing in the same place, and the prayer times matched what I had already received, even though I expected the new location to make some difference.
Has anyone else seen this happen, and what could cause the prayer times to stay exactly the same after moving to a different location even though the device location is updating correctly?
